The Program
The Youth Boxing Program is a membership-based program for kids ages 6 to 18 to learn the skill and art of boxing. We do not teach kids to fight, we teach the values of hard work, being disciplined, and how to move our bodies effectively and efficiently.

Membership
Boxers fight alone in the ring. But it takes a coach and support team to bring that boxer there. As a Youth Boxing Club, we train kids in boxing, but teach that club members are a community, that we have more in common than we are different, and that all are welcome and appreciated.

Youth Boxing Club FAQ:
-
It is a membership-based, under-18 club dedicated to helping local youth learn the sport of Boxing. We are not an after school child care program or a day care center. Please don’t sign your child up for the program if they don’t want to be here.
-
Boxing is a multidisciplinary sport, that is by most accounts one of the most difficult to master. It requires body awareness, learning how and why it moves the way it does and to be present in the moment. We also believe that activities like this should be fun and engaging!
-
Concussions are rare in Youth Boxing, less so than football, soccer, basketball, hockey, etc. because of the protections put in place; protective equipment, sparring safeguards, and safe training techniques.
-
Coach Greg is a Silver Level Boxing Coach with USA Boxing, the governing body for all amateur, Olympic-style boxing. He has 17 years experience in boxing and training, and has been a USA Boxing coach since 2017. He also has a Master’s Degree in Fitness & Wellness and previous work includes, juvenile probation, social work and youth residential treatment.

Olympic-style boxing, because it is an amateur sport, is primarily about scoring points to win a bout rather than winning via knockdown or knock out. Since scoring points is the primary goal, Olympic-style boxing is about form and good technique, about strategy and grace versus brutality.

The Youth Boxing Club is a membership-based program and is $75/month and requires at least a 3-month membership. Youth will also be required to have a USA Boxing membership.
-
Individual lessons are for those members who want to increase their skill level beyond what they can learn in a class setting, or who are interested in competition. Individual lessons for Club Members are $65 per session.
-
Competition-level boxing takes time, discipline, and effort. The coach will determine if the requisite skill level has been achieved before considering competition. Certain items will need to be purchased: USAB-approved protective equipment, for example. Individual lessons will likely be required, and since most competitions take place out of the area, plan on travel expenses. If your child decide to compete, we will sit down and come up with a training schedule and a budget.
-
To sign up, simply go to the Sign Up Now button on the home page and fill out the membership form. All boxing club members must also have a member-athlete membership with USA Boxing.
